Answers:
Only if it have the Visa or MC symbol on it.
Bluntly yes. you are competent to book a room with a hotel as long as your debit card have a major cc company logo, psyche est Mastercard, Visa... The problem is that the hotel will "hold" your funds for a period of time, 14 to 30 days. So if you book your room for one dark at $140 a night, consequently the hotel will automatically deduct the amount and hold that amount since you pay and later after you check out, you will be charged the amount owed, as well as hold an additional $140 held.
YES but it is a very impossible idea. So don't do it.

When they adopt your card for the reservation they will immediately help yourself to the amount of the expected bill out of your bank justification. That creates a problem if your balance be low or if you decide to disappear early. They involve not return that amount until long after you have gone home.
Usually what the hotel does is they put a hold on your card for the amount of your stay. So as long as you have satisfactory money that even if they block a few hundred, then you can use your debit card. Usually what is suggested is you hold it near a credit card, but when you check out, pay next to debit.
yes. but you enjoy to show ur identification when you jump to check in and it must meeting the name on the debit card.

btw wat ethan say below is NOT TRUE! I travel a lot and so long as ur debit card have a visa or mastercard logo on it they will accept it.
You can, but from I experience, it be a bad theory!! They took money from me TWICE... to hold it and then once i checked out! It took a long while to sort out, and i wasnt a delighted bunny!! I recommend that maybe you use a travel website. The one i tend to use adjectives the time now, is: www.choicehotels.com . They steal your debit card to hold the rooms, and no money from your account until you check-in.
A debit card can be ran as a debit or credit...as long as it have the Visa/MC emblem it will be accept as a credit purchase. If you don't enjoy a lot surrounded by your bank reason it might cause a problem. The hotel will hold the money amount for the room until you check out of the Hotel. Once you check out it will be taken from your match. Just be sure you leave the extra money within your account so it doesn't produce you to have overdrafts. Visa and MC companies are making it easier and easier to use their product. It also help not to have to fetch around cash.
yes we do it adjectives the time...if it says mastercard or visa on the front of it...use it similar to its a credit...most if not adjectives hotels take a visa or mastercard
[edit]

Apparently an American or (less frequently) a Canadian debit card can be allied to a credit account beneath many circumstances. This is not a "debit card" per se, it is a debit/credit card. If you enjoy a straight debit card with no credit function, it doesn't nouns as though you will be able to book a hotel reservation. I do apologize for the muddled up answer as contained by my experience, a debit card and a credit card are two entirely different and separate financial tools available to the consumer.

Cheers
yes and they will ask for your id upon check-in
