Best time to avoid traffic to San Diego from Studio City, CA via the 101 and 5 this Friday?
Google maps have me going via the 101 to the 5, and says 2 hours and 13 minutes or so for time.
It also say up to 4 hours with traffic. I'm relatively latest to the area and know how ruinous the 405 can be, but I've never taken the 5 south to SD...
I can leave Thursday if compulsory...

Between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM- this is the typical "rush hour"
Leave the day earlier if you are worried about making it, you will hit traffic here and nearby but nothing main. Of course nothing compared to the traffic on the 91.
Other knowledgeable leave mid morning and you should be dutiful all the approach.
It's a majorly BAD idea to try to drive to SD on a Friday; in the same way, returning on Sunday.. If you can leave at 10AM on Thursday, you should be capable of make it to SD by 1PM or so.
I other come home from SD on Monday because the traffic on Sunday is HORRENDOUS!
Lived contained by southern CA for 30 yrs. On a Friday you should wait until after 9:30pm . Thur after work?? On Thur after 9:00pm. Around those time you SHOULD miss most traffic. But if a twist of fate.. then you never know.
