How come nearby isn't a Cantral Park East?
I see South, North and West but no East? Did it change to 5th Avenue or something?

When the verdict was made, within the mid nineteenth century, to create Central Park (it's man made), Fifth Avenue was already an established residential thoroughfare. Many powerfully to-do New Yorkers already had residences on Fifth Avenue above 60th St. The mark Fifth Avenue already had a indubitable connotation that it's residents wouldn't want changed.
Conversely, Eighth Avenue above 60th St. wasn't a desirable address. In fact the blocks which we very soon know as the Lincoln Center area of the Upper West Side, be a slum until as late as the 1950's! Therefore, varying the name of Eighth Ave along Central Park to emulate the name of the spanking new park made sense.
Because the street that WOULD be Central Park East is in reality 5th Avenue.

The road that borders Central Park on the East is 5th Avenue. The area have several institutions called Central Park East (i.e. schools) so the nouns has this designation, but the road does not.

It's in fact call "Fifth Avenue" and originate at Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village and runs northwards through the heart of Midtown, along the eastern side of Central Park, through the Upper East Side and Harlem, where on earth it terminates at the Harlem River at 142nd Street.
The East piece of Central Park is 5th AVenue. I guess they just arranged to call it this bearing.
