Shopping contained by Manhattan... I necessitate a place surrounded by Manhattan to buy Dvd's and a portable dvd player... recomendations?
I will be in NY subsequent week for vacation and I want to buy a portable dvd player and some dvd's. What places within Manhattan do you recommend for doing this? Thanks!

First rotten...don't buy anything on the street. Most, if not adjectives dvd's on the street are bootlegs! As for portable dvd players, you need to pay attention as most of those small camera/electronics type stores with unbelievably low prices go grey market merchandise that may be refurbished and/or no warranty. Prices at legitimate stores approaching J&R are fair for NYC, but not "cheap" compared to other chains, plus once you factor surrounded by the high NYC excise, you can get better deal shopping online at places like Best Buy, Amazon or Circuit City. In most cases you won't pay packet tax and if you do, you'll discharge your state tax and at smallest get free shipping.
J&R is the place, which is a series of megastores each specializing surrounded by different kinds of electronics, computers, audio, video, appliances, etc., that pilfer up a city block on Park Row, across from City Hall Park in downtown Manhattan.
Actually, any Best Buy or Circuit City would be perfect for the portable DVD player and DVD's. We do enjoy them in Manhattan (use the links below and do the store locator...if they ask for a closure code...use 10022 - that's Midtown Manhattan.)
However, if you are looking for a quality style player...in the neighbourhood professional, as the radio ads say aloud "Ya Go to B&H!". That place is HUGE, just resembling J&R but they are closed on Saturday.
