Amish Folks at Chicago's Train Station?
So I'm at the Union Station in Chicago w/ the Fam---what the heck,, but the Amish folks is in that catchin them a ride on the Amtrak. Where is it they live in IL? Do they travel by horse and buggy when the train drops em stale?

I've see them there tons of times. They are newly traveling & probably have arrangements for someone to pick them up. It is a bit atypical to see them there.
The weirdest place I saw them... Caesers Palace surrounded by Vegas watching the Talking Statues. That freaked me out!
Amish are not allowed to fly. So when they travel long distances they usually stir by train or bus. They would hire a local person to drive them to/from the local train or bus station. Also, sometimes they will hire a driver next to a van, and a whole vanload will travel to another state to call in.
There is a large Amish settlement south of Champagne. Most potential the ones you saw in Chicago would own been shifting trains. Chicago is a major hub for train travel.

Are you sure they were Amish? There are alot of Hasidic Jews within Chicago area, sometimes mistaken for Amish.
Antwon, these people tend to use the trains and the buses to receive around...not only throughout Illinois but other states as okay especially towards Eastern Indiana and Pennsylvania.
For them travel by bus and train is a way of time.
And to answer your question, I am not sure how these general public get from the train station to their homes. I presume that they would get hold of off contained by the smaller towns so they could go by horse and buggy to their homes...

They may have be transferring from one train to another.
The Amish in my nouns (wisconsin) would have hired a driver to run them to the train station if it was any distance away (>15 miles). Also the Amish community own family contained by MO and IN and I know that they travel to see them. And court the girls in arranged marriage. I am sure that Chicago was of late a lay over in nearby trip.
