Moving to Dallas from San Diego. Not sure where on earth to live.?
My boyfriend and I are moving to Dallas from San Diego, CA. The company he will be working for is in Grand Prairie, but I maintain reading how to stay away from South Dallas. Where can we move that will be easy on his each day commute yet enjoy great nightlife and water buzz too?

Lakewood, a neighborhood in East Dallas subsequent to White Rock Lake. It's the only nouns in Dallas where on earth you get both nightlife and dampen activity. You would drive against the traffic, making your commute not so doomed to failure. If you don't mind a longer commute, and more suburban area, check out Lewisville.
If he's working contained by Grand Prairie, then look at Arlington or Irving...but Irving can be sketchy contained by places and great in others so you'll enjoy to do some research. Irving is in the middle of the entire DFW metroplex and when we moved here from CA we first lived in/near Las Colinas. There are great apartments to hand Hwy 114 and MacArthur or downtown Las Colinas. Addison is also a great place but extremely far drive for him to go to Grand Prairie.
Actually there are some highly nice neighborhoods in South Dallas. Take a look at Cedar Hill. There are custom homes human being built around Joe Pool lake, which is right subsequent door.
When people voice stay away from "South Dallas" they are saying that within are some very impossible 'hoods south of downtown, but there are also million dollar homes within lovely historic neighborhoods, as well as recently developed communities like Cedar Hill. Talk next to a realtor who specializies in the nouns.
DON'T LEAVE SAN DIEGO. I made like mistake, I lived in SD and I decision I never left. Yes, you hear right stay away from South Dallas, But Grand Praire isn't nice any. He will have to dop one Hell of a comute if you want to live somewhere nice. "Irving" is MAYBE the best for your situation. If he doesn't vigilance to drive for an hour, one way, live North.turn North.
The crime rate is starting to rise in places resembling Grand Prairie, Arlington, Duncanville, Red Oak, Cedar Hill and so on.

Rush hour traffic in Dallas can be doomed to failure so I would suggest moving close to work. Most people appear to be suggesting northern suburbs that would be horrible to commute from. Stevens Park in Oak Cliff is nice and have hills and trees (rare for the area) along next to some cute homes with part. Lakewood is also a cool neighborhood with lots of bungalow style homes that you will make out since you're from San Diego. Joe Pool Lake is in the southern chunk of Dallas and it's great for playing on the water.
The horrible bake and humidity will take some getting used to, if you ever do.
Since Texas is the estate of Baptists you will find it funny that you can't buy liquor on Sunday and you can only buy it within liquor stores. Beer and wine can be purchased any day of the week, but not back noon. There are also section in Texas (all big cities included) where on earth you can't buy any alcohol and those are called dry areas.
I grew up within Denton,TX which is about 35-40 miles north of downtown Dallas and i aint never have a problem gettin around DFW, it might be to far for yall, But for me thats perfect because Denton have lake Ray Roberts and Lewisville Lake both in 15 miles and Denton is also a college town with lots of sports bar, clubs and just lots of cool places to dangle out and Denton pretty much has everything you would want and its only getting bigger, plus whenever ya wanna dance to Dallas or fort Worth its close enough (20 minute drive to Dallas surrounded by the HOV lane) plus theys buildin a commuter rail strip thats gonna connect with the DART (Dallas nouns rapid transit) so that'll be sweet. The simply other place in DFW I could suggest is Arlington, its right subsequent to Grand Prairie, they got Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor, the texas ranger and in a couple years the Dallas Cowboys! plus Arlington is pretty much right surrounded by the middle of Dallas and Ft. Worth
I'd say to stir to Addison. It is a North Dallas suburb and is close to 635, a major highway. There is a accurate nightlife there and it is a nice place to live.
I am going to answer your question base on your need for river activity. Grand Prairie is a big city. Most of it is located surrounded by Tarrant County, but some of it is in Dallas County (Fort Worth is surrounded by Tarrant County). North Texas has profusely of lakes. Here is a guide to them. You'll be capable of see from the map which ones are located in Dallas and Tarrant counties. Maybe you can pick a sea and go from in attendance. You'll find lots of nightlife in both Dallas and Tarrant counties.
