Anyplace within LA for an overnight spa retreat?
My best friend is coming to visit within Sept and I want to take her for a nice overnight spa excursion. A bunch that would include spa treatments as well as lodging and possibly meal would be fabulous.
But I really don't have insane amounts of money to spend on this (I'm a full time student and could probably get hold of together $500). It's just something I would similar to to do to celebrate her engagement near her since being 3000 miles away from her I won't really know how to do the bridal shower/bachelorette party stuff next to her before the matrimony.
Any ideas for local spots? Or should I only take the drive to Vegas and do something within?

Glen Ivy is a good choice, but it's not an overnight spa.
You could look into the granddaddy of spas, the Golden Door contained by Escondido, but I bet's it pricey.
palm springs and surround is also a good choice. The Whole Life Times have an article on spas a few months ago. There were several around Santa Barbara and Ojai.
Check it out online.
Many hotels hold spas, but I don't know of any off-hand.
If all else fail, consider a local day spa and a hours of darkness at a nice hotel or B&B nearby.

Glen Ivy in Corona is terrific. It feel like you are at a resort. They enjoy spring baths, mudd baths, saunas, hot tubs, and lot of other great stuff. You can get a bundle at Costco for $130 which includes a massage, a body scrub, a body butter wrap, stone polish therapy and a appendage and foot massage. I own done it, and it is great. I took a friend of mine for a Xmas present and we both had a great time. You can spend the entire year there. They enjoy a good little cafe beside healthy food for lunch at defensible prices. There is not a hotel on site though, so you would have to stay somewhere else. Palm Springs ins't too far from nearby and they have some great bar for night time. Or you could stay surrounded by Temecula and go wine tasing the subsequent day. THey do enjoy a spa in Temecula also call Suuth Coast Resort and Spa, I have never be, but a friend of mine said it was nice. I would move about with Glen Ivy though, You will hold a great time!
Mission Inn Hotel and Spa surrounded by Riverside. It's about 1 1/2 hours away from LA. Since it is a Hotel and a Spa you can hold spa treatment and stay overnight. This hotel is very peerless because its about 100 years hoary and it is modeled after the california missions. Trust me its beautiful, your friend will love it.
You can purchase one of the spa packages. I recommend any the Story of love package or a zest of paradise.
Story of love will start at $575 and will includean 80 minute couples wipe, a special desert treat in your room (its typically chocolatte covered strawberrys) and it will also have breakfast within bed and free valet parking. They also decorate your room within rose petals but you can tell them to sign out that out if you want.
A taste of Paradise starts at $440 it will include one 50 minute polish and a $100 resort gift card which can be used anywhere contained by the hotel including room service, at any of the 4 restraunts or at the spa. It also includes Valet parking.
Both packages give you access to access to our, pool, jacuzzi, eucalyptus steam rooms, and the fitness center.

Do a simple network search of "light of day spas near Los Angeles", and you will win lots of sites to choose from, and many spas to consider.
The "Glen Ivy" implicit Riverside, mentioned by "Caligirl" & "Chie", seems to be one of the "top picks".
Most are "DAY" spas, although some are inwardly hotels such as, The Peninsula Hotel, in Pasadena, and the Westin Century Plaza, contained by Century City, that could offer over darkness accommodations.
Most spas appreciate a reservation within advance.
Palm Springs is your best bet. Rates here are low in September. Check the Spa Hotel and Casino within downtown.
I just come back from such an excursion at the Ojai Inn & Spa (2 treatments and room)--they hold package rates so I would recommend calling & discussing it with them. There are nice things to do nearby besides the spa as well
