2016 Olympics is a impossible view!?
Does anyone else think that this is a horrible model? The city is broke and taxes are at an all time large. Cities don't gain money from Olympics they lose millions. Where is the money to fund this supposed to come from. I wish LA would enjoy gotten the bid so that their tax payers could treaty with it and not us? Why didn't we attain to vote on whether we'd bid for it?

Here's the most influential part: most of us know how upright Chicago is. However, a lot of the world doesn't. People from other countries presume of New York and L.A. for sightseeing and never consider going further inland. The image they enjoy of Chicago, if they haven't been here, is still the stockyards, Al Capone, and Michael Jordan. Those who own sightseen here changed their tune 180 degrees and if truth be told PREFERRED Chicago because of the friendliness and affordability (at least compared to New York and L.A.)
Atlanta's try for the '96 Olympics be for a lot of duplicate reasons. It didn't succeed as resourcefully, but it still had some positive impact. Imagine hosting the Olympics surrounded by a TRUE sports town like Chicago, next to boatloads of places for people to turn. Not to mention, learning from the mistakes New York made contained by vying for the 2012 Olympics.
Right now, the chief competition is from Rio and Tokyo. Tokyo would be a tough sell after have the Olympics in Beijing 8 years faster, although they can certainly verbs it off. Rio's primary advantage is have the first Olympics in South America. If you go straight-up on what each city have to offer, Chicago would enjoy HUGE advantages over everybody else. But you never know with these Olympic official.
And for those of you who think Chicago taxes are outrageous, of late see how much sympathy you'd get from the nation of NYC (8% income tax within the CITY, before state and fed) or L.A. (insane property values and taxes) Hell, I reimburse more to license my car within Charlotte than I ever did in Chicago.
I don't think the average citizen anywhere is allowed to vote on whether they want the Olympics to be hosted within their city. I think it's of late assumed that everyone would love the privilege of hosting the Olympics. It's a prestige thing.
I would love to see the Olympics contained by Chicago 2016 rather than 2008 Olympics contained by Bejing..no offensive their hurting the ethnic group..

I consider it would be fun to have it surrounded by Chicago, but i heard some rumors going around that they would enjoy to close the roads in Chicago during the Olympics and to prepare for them... Does anyone know if this is true?

If Chicago win the Olympics, the Olympic Village will be in Jackson Park and they're going to build brand clean luxury housing for the athletes that will be converted to condos after the Olympics. Then the new stadium that will be built will convert to a up to date outdoor theater/concert venue right on the lakefront. I mean, the southside is superb but it needs to acquire a kick surrounded by the butt to jumpstart it and the money that would pour into the southside businesses due to the Olympics would probably to it...
Speaking of pouring money...how is it that Chicago would loose millions by hosting the Olympics? I don't even understand where on earth you would get information that would brand name you think that would crop up. Try renting a room downtown during the Chicago Marathon, it's impossible and that's for a one day impressive... I've met people that rent rooms surrounded by the far off suburbs because rooms newly aren't there. The restaurants destroy during the marathon, the hotels decimate, the parking garages kill, adjectives of the businesses in the city brand a killing stale of that one day...and you're axiom a world wide event such as the Olympics would result in Chicago to actually loose money? To be blunt, that's retarded.
As a resident of Chicago, I ruminate it will be excellent for the city, but I don't even like going downtown for the Taste of Chicago so I don't know...I reason for the one week that the Olympics will last, it would an amazing time to showcase Chicago.
