"Approximately how long does it steal to take from Frederick, MD to Shady Grove (MD) Metro Statation?
I know 270 can be a real aching in the (a)$$ to drive surrounded by the morning. But can anyone give me the approximate time it will pocket if I leave around 5:30am? Is traffic really bleak at that time? Mapquest says approx 34 mins, but I know that doesn't purloin into consideration ALL the traffic. Help, please?!
Answers:
Traffic aint that fruitless at 5:30? Do you actually live effective DC? anything having to do near the beltway sucks, even at 3am on a Thursday it sucks. The Metro will take merely a long but far less hassle, save in mind it will own to stop every 3-5 minutes. Look it up on the Metro web site, they hold an approx time listing matrix to show times from point to point.
Traffic at 5:30am shouldn't be desperate at all. Doesn't start to build up until 6:30 - 7. And the 34 minutes is a pretty close estimate.
Forget Mapquest. Yes, the traffic can be god-AWFUL, especially at 5:30 in the AM. It's around 30 miles from the intersection of US 15 (I-270) and Patrick St (US 40) in Frederick to the metro parking lot at Shady Grove. On a Saturday or Sunday, you can do it surrounded by 1/2 hr. But weekdays? Ugh! Allow at least an hour, which would assume an average speed of roughly 30 mph. You can raise on this by leaving at 4:45 AM for what should be nearly a 40-45 minute trip at that hour -assuming no wrecks along the way (yours or someone else). Don't forget to give train travel time from Shady to wherever you're going. Oh yes, and cost. $4 adjectives day parking at Shady Grove. Subway fare will be about $6-$8 a afternoon. Now, what about the MARC system as an alternative? You can pick up the train within downtown Frederick at 100 South Street (3 out in the AM, 3 put a bet on in the PM) if not make the run to Point of Rocks, Dickerson or Barnesville to stop it. Transfer to Metro trains at varios points along the way or progress all the method in to Union Station (and while you're in that, stop by the Station Grill and say "Hi" to owner Bruce Gardner and put in the picture him his old "loud mouth soup" friend Scott sends greetings.)
See this site for MARC info.

And this one for info more or less the Station Grill:

Good luck. You'll need it.
PS: Suggestion -do a examination drive to Shady Grove station if the metro is your choice so you see how it all works.
