Too far from any of the major cities, if i.e. what you are looking for.
Sterling, Co. is a very small town. Things to do are constrained. Unless your into outdoor activities. Then there's fishing, hunting, hiking, backpacking. I know, I use to live nearby. Sterling also gets a great deal of wind & blowing snow contained by the winter time.

I hold only be through Sterling. it is a typical small town out on the prairie of Colorado. It is about 2 hrs from Denver..so you could progress to Denver on weekens for activities...but I am sure Sterling is a pretty still place. i used to live in a moment or two town out on the prairie, same size.
