Take a minicab. The safest and easiest way to travel. It is not that expensive.
Avoid the van services! Just use the SMART suburban bus system which can breed the trip easily and for just about $2.00! Take the #125 Fort bus from the airport into downtown and then the #510 Van Dyke to sterling Heights. Other option include the 530, 560, 580 etc from downtown depending upon where exactly surrounded by Sterling Heights you want to get to. Good Luck!
