I live in Dallas, I am looking for a close by retreat to stir with my people (wife 2 kids 5 and 8). Does anyone know about a hotel beside fun things to do(maybe indoors) in the nouns? (other than San Antonio please).

Fredericksburg (which is near Austin) is a concrete fun place for the whole people - it's a real authentic German town. There is a nice low mountain to tramp nearby and a few interesting happenings for kids.
You can also try Florida if you are willing to fly. West Palm Beach is a great destination for you and kids (ocean, zoo, golf, etc.)- see review on Cafeyak.com
