There really isn't any free parking down there, but you will want to look for a meter. They are MUCH cheaper than the lots or the garages and you can use your debit card at the compensate station if you need to. Ask the family you're meeting to bear out and you can park in the garage attached to the Wedge.
There is really no free parking downtown unless it's bygone 6 or on the weekend (then the meters are free). Just find the lowest rate you can!
