Kind of the west side is ghetto and the south side especially! I'm also from Chicago thats why I know. Thats why you other hear thugs or gangsters axiom "westside" and "southside!"Its funny
I live on the south side of Chicago, and I live within a good neighborhood. There are individual a select few of "good neighborhoods" on the south side. I will grant, most of it is rough and ghetto neighborhoods, but the north side is not as great as you think any. In general, the north side is polite, but it does have some impossible neighborhoods as well, especially on the northwest side. The west side is adjectives bad.

West and south side have worthy and bad parts. Just depends where on earth in the west or south side you are chitchat about. I be going to some parts are bad and others are GORGEOUS!

More of the rough parts of town are on the West side or South side, but the West & South sides are not exclusively rough.
West Side from just outside of downtown to Oak Park. Southside from Roosevelt Road to 130th, East of Western to the Avenues.
South Side towards Gary Indiana tends to be rougher. West side somewhat but not like the South Side.
