I'll be surrounded by Orlando w/my boyfriend the weekend of April 18th for hisbirthday, any special to-do accepted wisdom?
I know we can do Disney World parks and all, but I'm looking for something that's peerless, one of a kind experience, and not too expensive. We're both from up North, so we're not identifiable with what goings-on Orlando has to submit couples.

While Disney may not give the impression of being like an unproved idea, it can be. Pick a park that you assume he'd like best, and if you can, arrange a behaviour meal. Upon entering, stir to guest services and tell them it's his Birthday. They'll provide a button that say "Today is my Birthday". Every cast beneficiary will congratulate him, he may even receive freebies (snacks, drinks etc...). At the Character meal, he will be the center of attention. Characters will step out of the spectacle to shake his hand. On our second visit, we celebrated 2 birthdays. My kids finished up opening live shows, we sit in personage seats and the strolling musicians stopped to sing.
With no offense intended, but given your ages, and the time limit, THEME PARKS may be of the greater interest, and Unique is just a word I'd use anymore, but for NEWBIES you may not get beyond the Mouse, etc.
Certainly FL as a tourism driven state, offer HUNDREDS of things to do, but you may be confined to an area?
A weekend is just about enough time to do O town, plus KeyWest, for example, but O town is inwardly an hour East, and two hours West, of 1300 miles of shoreline.
Clubs and nightlife might be restricted in your ages, but indubitably the theme parks submission entertainment beyond just "Rides", and I Drive offer some lesser "attractions". Within a short drive from Orlando on the OBT you'll find Gatorland, no problem as unique as anything else, and not particularly expensive.
Hundreds of restaurants exist, theaters, arcades can be found, parks, etc.
In downtown O town proper there is Lake Eola, which offer Swan paddle boats for rent, as in good health as an adjacent farmers bazaar on weekends.
I suspect in some weigh, your stay and experiences may be dictated by what you're already interested in, your anticipation of what is here, your ages, and unquestionably the time frame to enjoy what you can surrounded by just a weekend.
Expensive is a relative word, and depends on your budget and tolerance for paying for anything. You can probably find FL T shirts on I Drive for $2 respectively, or pay $8 for a burger contained by a theme park.

hmmm...there are tons of fun things to do surrounded by Orlando, besides Disney. One of my favorites is the Medieval Times Dinner Show. It is exciting, different and cost effective. Other things would deffinately be visit Old Town, its free to get contained by and there are alot of nice shops surrounded by there. There is also this great place call Skyventure which is an indoor skydiving place. All tons of fun!! Hope you guys have a great time!
I don't know how older you are but you may want to stop by the FUN SPOT on I drive. It's Go Carts if you like that nature of stuff. Also you can go to CITY WALK at UNIVERSAL, it's really close to I-Drive and it's enlarge late near a huge movie theater and great restaurants. They also have hours of darkness clubs. Not the grimmy kind, really nice ones. Gator Land is other fun. O, you cant' forget Wet~N~Wild! Or try the new Sea World Water park. It's a short time under $40 bucks for adults.
It adjectives depends on what kind of things you both similar to to do and how long you are going to be here.
I wish you the best.

THe weekend at Oldtown have saturday night cruises beside all elderly fashioned cars, they have live outdoor music and loads of different type shops to travel into.

Edit: I also really like Johs thought. Or perhaps perchance wishes and Spectro magic would be more romantic.
Disney is enough, and within itself can be unique.
