New York Weekend Trip from UK - Best things to do?
Booked a trip to NY City and am staying in a hotel within the middle of the city, was wondering if you fine population could list me some of the things that I really MUST see during my long weekend here.

Have fun shopping. The Euro is worth more than the dollar so you will savour these stores: Macy's, Bloomingdale's. and Lord and Taylor.
Where to start? New York is such a wonderful city, it's difficult to know where on earth to begin, which is why you posed this ask, of course.
The previous respondents adjectives offer excellent recommendation: Rockefeller Center, Central Park and the Empire State Building are worthy destinations on a first trip to New York, as is a trip to a Broadway theater for a play or one of the city's world-class museums.
To that list I would give the following: First, "personalize" your experience such that it fits your needs. If you tend towards entertainment surrounded by your daily existence, for example, you might want to focus on that on your trip -- While at Rockefeller Center, you might go to a tape of a televesions show, for instance; or you might see several Broadway shows AND go to a reading at Carnegie Hall and at Radio City Music Hall (both located in Midtown, where on earth you're staying).
Second, I'd look for ways to have some uniquely New York experiences; the sorts of things that you can't own anywhere else in the world. The World Trade Center is clearly one such venue, albeit a somber one. On a happier note, an hobby I recommend to tourists is a trip to either the East or West Village next to no particular aim contained by mind. Instead, just allow yourself to roam about and build those "accidental" discoveries that make vacation so wonderful. Both neighborhoods are excellent for this, and the discoveries you make, be it restaurants, vintage clothing shops, antique stores or art gallery, will make for memories that you'll other treasure.

Empire State Building - get here early contained by the morning, it opens at nine so be within before that unless you want to spend over two hours queue.
Central Park - Anytime of the day is fine to stir here, not much to see but if you are in New York after you have to run here.
Natural History Museum - Really fun but you won't get to see adjectives of it(it is huge) A must see is the dinosaur section and the adjectives life paragraph. Again get within early as queue will be very thoroughly long. When i was here it opened at ten but times may alter so check it out.
A Broadway Show - The best thing is to book it up to that time you go. Although this more expensive you will find to see the show you want. You can also buy tickets for shows in Times Square at partially the price but the shows won't be great. I would suggest Phantom of the Opera, Chicago or Hairspray. Unless you have children avoid the Disney shows.
Another must see is GROUND ZERO and THE STATUE OF LIBERTY. You can do this contained by one trip. Take the subway to ground zero and consequently get the Staten Island transfer to see the Statue. You don't need to gain off on the island as it isn't worth the money or time. Just a look at it is fine.
Chinatown isn't a must but is cool to see but be wary if you go to Canal street!
If you want to do some shopping after go to fifth avenue. There is Macy's there(i really can`t stand Macy's) and Sak's. Sak's is the best in my belief.
If you want to see a view of the city at hours of darkness then shift up the Rockerfeller Center to the 70th floor observatory.
Or if you want a view from the river catch tickets for the harbour dark tour which also gives a close scene of the Statue at night as ably as a 360 view of Manhatten Island.
Take a hoof it across the Brooklyn Bridge for an excellent view of Manhatten. Get the subway to Brooklyn first.
There are also closely of other museums to see like MOMA and The Guggenhiem. I am sure adjectives those suggestions should keep you busy on your drop by and they are the best things to do while in town. Hope you soak up the trip and have fun.
Visit all the tourist places stated above but i recommend going to conduit street and china town for cheap souvinears and little Italy for really good food. Pay your respects at ground not anything. Hope i helped =]
