Opinions of Detroit.?
How come some poeple are like "Oh Detroit is risk-free, you're fine to stop if you have to. It's not as desperate as people receive it out to be." and other are like "What's our motto? Don't win shot!" or "Yea, that neighbourhood is undamaging... if you think dodging bullets is locked and hoping your car will be outside surrounded by the morning."
I find it so odd to enjoy such different/opposite views from associates that live in the city...
I have alot of people put bad/scary thoughts contained by my mind about the city... i.e. Don't stop for red lights at darkness. But after driving through there and mortal fine it doesn't seem close to such a huge deal.
Have masses of you Detroiter's have experienced first mitt crime and what is your view on the city itself and the crime?
Answers:
I lived contained by a suburb of Detroit & nothing "bad" ever happend. I loved it!
I live pretty much dead center of the city. (Woodward and I75). Many, Many unpaid nights Ive walk home from Greektown, Deluxe or where ever. All are in the order of 3/4 of a mile away or 15 min. Ive never had an issue except a few bums asking for money.
With that being said, in that are a bunch of places I would not go surrounded by Detroit. Just like every other city you own good and desperate parts. But hell, there are several places I wouldn't go contained by Chicago either.
The reality is, the people who agree bad in the order of Detroit are usually people who dont know "going on for Detroit". They either live contained by the burbs or in another cut of the country altogether. They just know what they enjoy been told. The horror stories are usually embellished.
Detroit is safe and not protected. It depends where you are. It is approaching any city. Well, except for it being depressing and rout up.
I never have a problem there are some areas that are worse than others i give attention to alot of people jus put thereselves within bad situations
The answer is the folks who say it is sheltered are the people who read between the lines city living, and actually live within the city. The people who right to be heard you will get shot are any people from the suburbs that dont enter the city unless its for a Tigers/Wings winter sport. Or people that enjoy never experienced Detroit and just listen to the medium instead of forming their own opinion.
I tramp home from the Bar late dark all of the time and I hold yet to run into any serious crime. Yes, I hold seen some crime but explicitly to be expected in any life-size city.
I have experienced crime within the suburbs as well.
Detroit is rear legs baby.
i live surrounded by detroit and its fine.you shouldnt care so much in the order of what other people believe. and no, i havent witnessed a crime here.
Anyone who say they haven't witnessed any crime there, I hold out them to stand on the corner of Michigan & Woodward at 4am. Or how about Cadillac Square? Care to rob a little stroll up Cass Corridor? Maybe around the nouns of 2 Mile and Woodward?
I was surrounded by a van one night, trying to flag down a Detroit police coup¨¦. I had to chase them, and THEN cut them sour and block them. And THEN I got out of the van and approached them, as they cowered inside the sports car. TWO of them, and armed, too. When the cops are scared of Detroit, it's a worthy idea for most individuals to pay attention.
The ones who right to be heard that Detroit isn't dangerous are the ones who live surrounded by the suburbs and only progress into Detroit during daylight and ONLY to the safest places. They're the same ones who brag in the order of lower Michigan's 'diversity', all the while moving further and further north, into more expensive subdivisions, trying to save that 'diversity' from moving into THEIR neighborhoods.
8 Mile is no longer the dividing line, it's 10 Mile. Property values are struggling freshly to maintain. When 8 Mile is the physical boundary of Detroit, why are unmarked towns being built out at 23 Mile to 26 Mile?
Me, I've driven up through Cass Corridor at hours of darkness to see the sights. Very colorful, no pun intended. And nothing bleak happened to me, neither. But nought bad happen to me in Beirut, any, but I don't recommend you go walking around near.
