When those buy foreign cars, isn't the US (especially Detroit/Midwest) getting screwed over?

Why don't Americans buy American anymore? What happened to that?

Answers:
Whats really made contained by America these days. Plus of the stuff that is to say made here the quality is desperate and the cost is high.
yes, I agree near G Detroit.
Yes, the Midwest (Detroit) and the U.S., for that thing, are getting screwed because of this. You will have those family that say: Honda and Toyota own plants in the U.S. today, so they are bringing job here, and many of the parts for the American cars are in reality made in other countries!! That is NOT a valid argument. The bottom smudge is that the profit gets sent support overseas whenever someone buys a foreign car. THAT is what is hurting the U.S. A foreign motor might be a couple thousand dollars cheaper, but I don't think they are "elite" or better than any American made cars, and instinctively, I think the entry and mid-level foreign cars are pretty plain looking. If lone people would still consider adjectives the reasons why it is considerable to buy American made cars (as they used to in the 50's, 60's, and 70's), I suggest our economy (at least possible Detroit's economy) would probably be doing at least a moment or two better.
It's a global reduction. We import a great deal of stuff from abroad, but we also export much.
you miserable other counties should stop buying american cars for the same aim?
Because they're backwards.
When American motor companies outsourced some of the labor intensive auto manufacturing to other countries, they lost the right to constraint that "Americans should buy American".

I am from Detroit. And, my lifestyle is dependent upon the success of the "Big 3".

But, I know the people who don't comfort about buying American anymore.

Side Note: I believe that the US auto industry is head for a resurgence... And, that cars like GM's "Volt" which will be built contained by Hamtramck, MI will lead that resurgence.
no because most of the foreign cars r made in america resembling ford owns mazda and the parts r made by ford
The reason that inhabitants buy foreign cars is because it gives inhabitants an elite status. Its not freshly Detroit/Midwest that is getting screwed it is the full US. Think about how the biggest purchase that every personality makes outside of their home is their coup¨¦. Yes, some of that money goes to the american worker but more or less 60% goes rear to Germany/Japan. This money is then reinvested into their own cutback via retail spending or as a market strengthener. Here surrounded by the US that money never makes it rear to the retail store owner, or the strengthening of our own markets. The correct news is that America is small potatoes contained by the scheme of the entire world. GM is once again the largest auto businesswoman in the world appreciation to overseas sales.

It is dismal really.
If they be making cars like contained by the 50's and 60's...quality and suitable prices, people may buy Ameriocan made cars. But the Japonese cars are 1000 times better (gas mileage, element control, etc, etc.)

btw. Honda, Toyota, Nissan make most of their cars surrounded by US (Accord, Civic, Camry, Corolla, Sentra, Altima, etc)
Luxury line resembling Lexus (Toyota), Infiniti (Nissan), Acura (Honda), are still built in Japan)
Well, for one, GM and Ford are not about making cars, but maintain the status quo that they've become accustomed to for the closing 40 years. In other words, they make plentifully of noise just about changing, but they don't REALLY want to do it. (I'm conversation more about headship than labor.)

Ford claims their heavy losses are due to labor costs and want to move their factory offshore (like that's a real give support to to MI). Meanwhile, Toyota is building factories within the U.S. and using American labor while posting huge profits.

I've worked at Chrysler HQ for 5 years. Asking why I'm seeing so many NEW cars next to tail light or brake fluffy defects, matching response is sheepishly admitting "Yeah to be exact a problem we've been have for a long time."

Well, FIX it! That's why we're buying foreign. Built by American labor, costs cheaper, and is higher characteristic. But Toyota isn't as top heavy as GM. Sorry, but when I'm working on an annual program for GM's TOP 1800 executives, that's unfolding me there are WAY too lots chiefs and not enough indians.
