Streets in NYC are long, and it's thorny to say what "street" one should live on. But I could recommend some particularly nice neighborhoods, if you would tell us something roughly what you think make for "the best".

NYC is very big and terrifically multi-faceted. I'm not sure, from your question, you relatively get of late how big and diverse it is!

or your choices are a neighborhood not too far from core Manhattan but "bad" (washington height, south bronx, bed-stuy), or a "good" neighborhood, nearly an hour away from Manhattan by train (Sheepshead Bay/Gravesend/Bensonhurst), or not near any subway station at adjectives (ie Bayside/Little Neck)
