I was born and grew up surrounded by Albuquerque. It has turned into a pretty big city and the traffic is really a bummer! You can noticeably do outdoor sports - Albuquerque is not that hot, even in the summer. The humidity is really low so it's trouble-free to cool off within the shade. Good schools and the relatives are nice. If I was going to turn back I would probably live contained by Placitas, Sandia Park or Edgewood and not in the city itself.
There are distinctly a lot of places much worse than Albuquerque. New Mexico is a great state - especially if you similar to the outdoors
