New York ~ What is the best broadway show out in that very soon?
My hubby and i are going to NY end of November. What is the difference between broadway, stale broadway, London, etc? What is the best show out there to see? And if you know the location what would be a great restaurant to devour either beforehand or after the show?? THANKS A MILLION

Spring Awakening is such a great show. It's also the show that won most of the Tony's this year (including Best Musical). I also recommend Wicked and Mamma Mia. If you're interested surrounded by seeing a play on Broadway, The Farnsworth Invention is great and Cyrano de Bergerac (starring Jennifer Garner and Kevin Kline) opens this week. Two great places to chomp through are Bobby Van's (50th between 6th and 7th aves) or Ruby Foos (which I believe is on 49th and 7th...either that or a new street down). Just make sure if you engender a reservation beforehand, you let them know that you are a pre-theatre guest so they can create sure to get you out in good time for the show. Have fun!

Well... London shows (or West End) are in England, so you can't carry those here. If a theatre have less than 100 spaces it is considered Off Broadway.
IMO, a good husband/wife show is Spamalot (which you can procure tickets for a discount at the TKTS booth in Times Square) because he'll LOVE it and so will you! Another great show is Avenue Q, it's full-size themed with puppets- but whip my word, well worth it! You can also glibly acquire discount tickets to this via TKTS. I would say you can obtain tickets to both of those for under $50 respectively. Plus the theatre Avenue Q is within is a smaller Broadway house, there really isn't a desperate seat within the Golden Theatre.
And Carmine's is across the street from Spamalot, it's a GREAT Italian place!

Even without knowing your love in theater, I'd recommend "Spring Awakening;" not one and only because it won the Tony for Best Musical, but also because native New Yorkers and tourists alike flock to it droves!! I one-sidedly have see it twice . . . and I've only done that near three Broadway shows in my time.
As for restaurants. . . Again, I don't know your preference, but this is a solid guidance: AFTER the show, walk west stroll up and down Ninth Avenue between 42nd St and 52nd Street. It's with the sole purpose a three-minute walk from adjectives the Broadway theaters, but it's completely devoid of any tourist-trap places. What's more, it has restaurants of every conceivable cuisine and ethnicity: French, Thai, Mexican, Japanese, fusion, Italian, Ethiopian, you baptize it . . . and they range within price from 'cheap eats' all the route up to 'blow the rent.' By going after the show (versus before), you'll be having a far more authentic New York experience. When surrounded by Rome. . . .
And as for the Broadway/Off Broadway/Off-Off Broadway designation, it DOES have to do near the size of the theater, but also with the topical focus of the play. Generally speaking, the more bizarre and off-the-wall, the more 'off' Broadway it will be.

The *best* show on Broadway right now is A Chorus Line, it's a classic. My first choice is Rent, it has an excellent vibe and message. An excellent off-Broadway show is Altar Boyz. Some other excellent shows are Spamalot, Avenue Q, Wicked, Jersey Boys, and Spring Awakening. A lot of culture also seem to resembling Legally Blonde, although I didn't like it. Look on Broadway.com, Playbill.com, and/or BroadwayWorld.com for more information on the different shows that are out near. I love this restaurant, Pigalle. I think it's at... 48th and 8th? You'll want to look it up to be Have fun!
