Right LA Neighborhood for me?
Im thinking of finally taking the plunge and moving west coast next year.I follow you want to live where you work because commuting is a *****, so I want to find the right neighborhood for me.
I resembling the ocean, but also backyard and veiws, I don't mind driving 30-45 minutues because in nyc it take you that long with the subway...
Im looking for a nice place, beside normal down to dirt people, not tooo funky, or hipster resembling they are trying, not too snobby as if... just a cute place where on earth i can walk, cafe's little shops, a cute neighborhood consistency, I work in business and entertainment so im kinda within the middle of the road, fit in where I go, but want a chill place to come home to.

When I moved out here from the East, I found a job first. Then, I looked for a place to live inside a 5 mile radius. (Hollywood Hills) It was the best strategy. It take me about 20 minutes to drive 5 miles. One of my friends who moved out from PA chose to live within Studio City and then get a job. She spends over 2 hours contained by her car respectively day.
Find the charge first; then look at the neighborhoods.
Don't forget roughly speaking our cost of living. An unexceptional house in a clad neighborhood will set you back at least possible $750,000. Coming from NYC that probably isn't much of a shock to you.
I like Redondo Beach or Manhattan Beach, but the family in MB might not be so down to soil. Venice has some apt parts and colorful odd race too.
This is an interesting ask because there are closely of places that might fit what you are looking for, but they are all over the map. Of course price array will limit your choices, I am sure, but you can other find something decently priced within most areas. Here is a little break down of places...save in mind, these are my opinion. But I'd like to surmise 10 years in LA (originally form North East) will administer me a pretty accurate view. Let's start near the beach areas.
Redondo / Hermosa / Manhattan / Playa Del Rey / Marina Del Rey / Venice / Santa Monica (Starting near the southern most, working north). The Redondo -> Playa del Rey areas are pretty cool, beach community passion type areas. I haven't lived there, so I can't offer you much difference between them, but they have a really chill over adjectives vibe to them. Good food, good shops, great beach, good dark life (Lots going on surrounded by Hermosa Pier area). Of course, you are getting kind of pricey within these areas, and a little removed. Usually you will be on the 405 getting to these areas, and the 405 can be a total NIGHTMARE most of the time, so work commutes can be really rough, depending on where on earth you are going.
Go a little north, and you hit Marina Del Rey, Venice and Santa Monica. There are some great areas here, so discouraging ones. Venice, in my assessment, gets for a while too beach slacker/artsy/hipster for my penchant. But it is still really nice. Marina is nice, and pricey, but also not my cup of tea. Santa Monica can be really great. If you are down by main street you are really close to lots of great places / nightlife / restaurants / shops. Taking the 10 for your rush hour commute can be rough, but explicitly kind of the means of access LA is. Go further north in Santa Monica (north of Olympic / Santa Monica and it starts getting nicer, and more expensive. The nouns around Montana is really nice, maybe look into that. Again, pricey.
Move further East into West LA / West Hollywood / Culver City... in attendance are good areas and not so devout areas. It is kind of a drive around / see what you similar to situation. None of it seems approaching much of a neighborhood to me, just one expansive suburb. not a ton of behaviour. But still, so great pockets.
I could go on and on roughly speaking all sorts of areas, but I will purely list a few. Check Los Feliz, Silver lagoon and Atwater Village. Some fun character. I enjoy heard inhabitants say they can bring back that artsy / hipster vibe, and parts of these areas can look some what trashy, but it is worth looking at.
Pasadena is nice as well. A great vibe, lots of moral places to go. It is in recent times kind of removed as it is pretty much East of everything. Glendale...some resembling it. I think it is impossible to tell apart as most areas, not really worth it. Burbank, better than Glendale, but mostly the same. Studio City / Valley Village / Encino / Sherman Oaks - All nice, close to lots of things, apt neighborhoods, but in the Valley, which some general public don't like. I close to being competent to get to most places effortlessly, though, but still live removed from the hustle of Hollywood / West side. Further North you go, the cheaper / worse it get.
Ok, hope this helps some. There is distinctly ups and downs to all places. From what you enunciate, I think you'd resembling Manhattan beach nouns, but it is not as accessible as I'd like. Also, Pasadena. I lived here almost 2 years and loved it. Has a nice, almost East coast feel. If you work within entertainment, it can be a crap shoot as to which studio you'd work at, so none of these really has a clear cut ascendancy over any other. Although I will say, Studio City nouns (close to the 170) has proven to be really straightforward to get to most places. Email me if you want me to expand on anything.
If you want to live here and enjoy the weather, next you have to earnings for it. You put up with the smog and the traffic, wallow in the weather and pay your rent or mortgage.
Even though NYC is big, it's not LA. The situation you describe is not going to be flowing to find, especially if you want a 30-45 minute commute. Commutes can easity last 1-2 hours if you don't bring back a place near your undertaking. Also, in LA nearby is a general inkling of disconnection because everyone here is into their own thing, a sort of "cool detachment". If you want that homey neighborhood have a feeling, you might have to work at it a bit.
"LA" is such a big place, here are so many neighborhoods/cities where on earth you can live. Of course, even within a city or neighborhood, near are safer sections and less-safe section. If you work in entertainment, you will want to start your scour in the Burbank nouns, which is a media hub.
In Los Angeles, some nice section are West LA, Brentwood, Westwood, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Los Feliz, Silverlake, Eagle Rock, Encino, Tarzana, Studio City, Toluca Lake, Granada Hills, Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks, West Hills, Chatsworth.
To the east: South Pasadena, parts of Pasadena, Altadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Glendora, San Dimas, Laverne, Azusa, Rancho Cucamonga.
Along the beach: Santa Monica, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, Rancho PV.
In Orange County aka "The OC": Seal Beach , Huntington Beach , Newport Beach , Corona Del Mar , Laguna Beach , Dana Point , Capistrano Beach , San Clemente , Brea, Yorba Linda, Orange, Tustin, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Rancho Santa Margarita, Lake Forest
To the west: Agoura, Calabasas, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Simi Valley, Moorpark.
This is not an all-inclusive account, but it's a start.
