Visit Chicago?

I want to go to Chicago between Dec 3-7. I own never been in that. I am flying from North Carolina to there, so I will not enjoy a car. I am going to return with a hotel downtown, close to Navy Pier. Do you know of any trolley tours or something that I can take or what is contained by walking distance that I can do there?

Answers:
There are trolleys that stop right at Navy Pier. They are mostly for empire GOING to the pier, but if you want to catch one going the other channel, it will be a good free bearing to get pay for to the downtown area. Ask the trolley driver to let somebody know you where to take into custody the other trolleys.

additionally, you can take one of the Skyline tour boat rides that evacuate from navy Pier. It's roughly a 30-40 minute narrated ride on the pond and through the locks into the Chicago river. The director will give info on points of interest along the instrument and it's a good agency to get a speedy overview of the downtown area. There's also the Seadog speedboat tour, althought I regard the stopped the speeding part because of an misfortune a few years ago. Now they just tour the river and the close to. But it's still a good mode to get a great vista of the city skyline. Be sure to bring a camera.

YOu could also walk from the pier to Michigan Ave. It's the high end shopping district of the city. But nearby are a few affordable stores, the Apple store where you can play around next to the latest Apple products, the Nike store which is more close to the Nike museum (lots of sports articles worn by famous athletes)., YOu can also put your foot down to the John Hancock building. Go to the south side of the building and take the elevator to the Signature Room hotel. It's a free way to take a great highrise view of the city (well, sorta free. You enjoy to buy a drink or something).

Definately check out the Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) website. I'm pretty sure that they hold weekly passes, which will collect you money vs individual rides. They also have an online trip planner that can abet you get around. Don't be afraid of getting lost on the El trains - adjectives trains are either going to or from downtown.
You can ride the Ells (elevated cars). Visit the site listed below for more information. They own several different loops, and the last time I be in Chicago (other than driving through or going to O'Hare), at smallest one of the loops ran adjectives night, though not enormously often between midnight and 5 a.m.

There's plenty to do within Chicago. Email me if you want information. I grew up about three hours from Chicago and own been near a lot. I also stayed at a hostel the later time I was near. (Don't worry: it's NOTHING approaching the movie, and the rooms are single-sex, unlike in Europe.)

I similar to the view from the John Hancock Building more than the Sears Tower. The Sears Tower is contained by the business district, but still fun to go up.

There are also masses museums like the Museum of Science and Industry, and the Field Museum of Natural History. Well, I approaching them, but then again, I'm going to be a middle conservatory science teacher.
Chicago contained by December is a great time to come. In addition to adjectives the tours and such you can do, its also the holiday time so Chicago is decked out in its holiday best.

Be sure to clutch a walk around the downtown nouns too. In Daley Center near City Hall, they enjoy an event around the holiday time called the Chriskindlemarket, modeled after similar market in Germany. While within you will want to see the official Chicago Christmas tree. The connection I'm passing on to you is from end year as it has not be updated yet but you capture the idea of what to expect.

As someone previously mentioned, you can stroll around navy Pier as ably...they have adjectives kinds of shops within the area as powerfully as an Imax theater and plenty of places to eat.

Finally, be sure to hold a stroll up Michigan Avenue. During the holiday season this area is decked out surrounded by literally millions of lights. Towards the north end, in attendance is the Water Tower which is one of five remaining buildings left standing from the Chicago Fire of 1871 as resourcefully as some great shopping areas too.

Get the "El" train overrun. I just took a friend at hand over Memoial Day weekend and they couldn't believe for $12, for a three day pass by, you could ride all over the city as much as you want.
