Question for those who know seattle?
is it an ethnically diverse city?
is there much of an african-american presence at hand?

I live surrounded by NE Seattle and it is not diverse. I rarely see anyone who is not white at university or in my community. That's not to right to be heard it is racist at all though, I guess that's in recent times the way it have played out.
But definitely contained by other areas, I'd say it's diverse. It really depends where on earth you are...
It is a honourably diverse city. But it isn't necessarily diverse from American-Americans. Although it does have a devout number of African-Americans, it get seriously of its diversity from other groups like family from Asia. This is because of it's proximity to Asia.
Depends what PART of seattle. South Seattle, Beacon Hill, Rainer Valley- Those are the areas with the strongest presence. There are neighborhoods near a high amount of Asians and Gay areas as all right.
Honestly I was amused when I read the comment just about Philly, there are rather a few african americans here. They just don't live downtown!
Hardly! I visited surrounded by March and could count the amount of African-Americans I saw in a week on one mitt. It depends one what you are used to. I'm coming from Philadelphia, which really and truly has an African-American presence. So by comparison, Seattle be an extremely white city.

The Central District, some parts of West Seattle and South Seattle are very diverse. Capitol Hill, Northgate and the U-district are somwhat diverse, whereas the rest of Seattle is as white as a penguin's belly. 'De Facto' segregation took hold surrounded by Seattle a while ago and has be very slow to evolution.
If you went to Laurelhurst you'd be thorny pressed to find an African-American, yet if you walk down to 20th and Jackson you'll find all sorts of race. I live on Capitol Hill and see lots of different types of people, however even near it is still predominantly white, as was the U-district where on earth I used to live. I used to work close to the Central District and there be a much wider variety of family.
depends on where you are (in seattle) - surrounded by general, the further south you shift the more diversity you'll see.
(meaning go to Central District, Rainier Valley for actual diversity)
Seattle is fundamentally diverse, theres all sympathetic of ethnicity & yes they is a good amount of African Americans.
They haven't done a census here contained by awhile. Here's the demographics from the 2000 census:
White - 72.5%
Black - 10.5%
American Indian - .9%
Asian - 8.3%
Pacific Islander - .3%
Hispanic - 5.1%
Other - 2.4%
So yes, it's an ethically diverse city but the African American percentage here is not as dignified a percentage as other cities. I think by immediately there's probably more Asians than African Americans and I've heard the Hispanic population is the quickest growing population here near lots of people moving up here from Mexico.
Like many ancestors have said, it really depends on where on earth you are in Seattle. Different neighborhoods are visibly terrifically different in expressions of their ethnic breakdowns. There isn't really a huge African-American presence in Seattle and the ending I'd heard, it be just underneath 10%, but don't quote me on that. There are neighborhoods that are predominantly one race or another as you dance around and how ethnically diverse the city feels to you will really depend on where on earth you are hanging out within the city.
Its really diverse, and nearby are alot of African Americans here.
It's very diverse; I come up with there are ethnic group of every POSSIBLE race and tribal mix here. Interracial couples don't even get notice, except that I personally sometimes consider they have the most gorgeous kids of all of us :-)
its VERY diverse here, lots of different cultures and race. People are very friendly. There are adjectives different kinds of those with different styles of clothing. Seattle is close to all the styles mixed together. We enjoy hip hop mixed with rock, pop, and adjectives sorts of other styles and you can see it in the path people dress and here personal styles. The arts are very big contained by seattle and like i said surrounded by the arts its very diverse within styles. Everyg group associates with everyother group. Nothign approaching in the movies when the cliques or race dont get along. everone get along for the most part. Its a really nice city with a great fresh unsullied cultural experience.
there are deeply of black people depending on where on earth you go. mosly you will find them within the southend or the CD/central district. but mostly there adjectives around.
