Cactus viewing and rock hounding contained by the SW?
In a couple weeks I am going to LA, then driving to Vegas, from Vegas to Salt Lake City, consequently back to Seattle (via Eastern Oregon and SW Idaho) Does anyone know where on earth, along that route I can easily find cool viewing areas of cacti (not of late prickly pear) Is there anywhere not too far stale the beaten track that I can see saguros, and other idealic types. Also are there any places where on earth if I wanted to stop and hike around I could maybe find some cool rocks. Or do you know of specific rock hounding rec areas?? I appreciate any responses!!

And within Vegas off Arville by 215 is the Las Vegas Springs Preserve which have re-developed the natural flora and flauna of the dale. You can do the walk of the grounds for free and a small payment to enter the various indoor exhibits.
The Las Vegas Valley is element of the Plisocene (excuse spelling) era when what is now the Great Salt Lake covered almost adjectives the way to connect near the Pacific Ocean. So you have adjectives kinds of sedement rock at Red Rock Canyon and Mt Charleston or even on the route to Hoover Dam through Henderson. Plus, when the volcanos erupted and created the Rocky Mts, you have other types of rocks to hound.
Cacti do not grow readily in Vegas. Any you see enjoy been brought here. Arizona is the place to see cacti growing contained by their natural state.
Be aware of Red Rock Canyon ... you can not remove anything from the nouns including rocks.
