You can do basically about anything you want surrounded by Dallas. I recommend going to the Grapevine Mills Mall, near the west wrapping up of I-635. Also there is a wax museum. The museums contained by the State Fair area, a short time ago east of downtown Dallas, are not big but they are okay. There are plenty of places to go drinking. Get a Dallas tabloid for other things.
I live in Dallas too. Boring place. Deep Elam, etc get old. There are parks, and if you hold culture you can go to drama or plays. But no mountains or seashore are here. State Fair coming up too. Mavericks basketball?
6th Floor Museum, [Kennedy assassination]
Have lunch or dinner within the revolving restaurant on Reunion Tower
Mesquite Rodeo [inexpensive fun, good food near, go early]
Medieval Times puts on a heck of a show.
Magic Time Machine is the individual place I know of where they'll bring you more rolls, to verbs a food fight w/another table
Take a hours of daylight trip down Hwy 67 to Dinosaur Valley State Park [south of Glen Rose] it has actual footprints surrounded by the riverbed.
