Balboa Park will maintain you entertained adjectives day. If you are going to see Shamu preform at Sea World attain there contained by plenty of time for the best seats, it's very well worth it.
Seaworld will be great- the shows are amazing!
Downtown have a lot to see- at hand is a big naval ship there you can tour, a shopping nouns along the water (sea port village), Star of India ship, Gaslamp district, baseball park.

I caution you against Anthony's Seafood Grotto- all their stuff is previously frozen (yes, right nearby on the water, and zilch is fresh). It's a tourist trap and not very pious at all. There are much better option. (most anything)

Oh, and I thought it was enormously cool to take a boat tour of the harbor! You can stir to the left or to the right or both. To the gone is the navy ship parking, and you can see Coronado, cross underneath the bridge. To the right is more fun for just looking at stuff. We did both and enjoy both.
Be sure to visit the USS Midway museum and after whip one of the Harbor cruise boats both are very interesting and right subsequent to each other. There are also several restaurants within the area my favorite is Anthony's Fish Grotto.
If the kids are younger, LegoLand is like mad of fun.

If they like animals, the Wild Animal Park is a distinctive experience.

If they like sports, Petco Park offer tours twice a day that includes a great deal of behind the scene stuff.

If they like history, Old Town and the San Diego Mission are a great deal of fun.

The views from the Point Loma lighthouse and Mount Soledad are great. If you income to go to the lighthouse, afterwards go down to the tidepools at low tide and check out the ocean life at hand.

Some kids think a short time ago riding the trolley around downtown is really cool.
Balboa Park is beautiful, and will hang on to the kids entertained adjectives day. There are several museums, as capably as the San Diego Zoo.

Here's a searchable list of local events and undertakings happening within San Diego next week:

you should turn to the star of india (a ship) and check it out, its downtown by the zoo. and anthony's fish grotto (sp?) is right next to the ship and it have the most amazing seafood ever!! their clam chowder is to die for!
Since your gonna be in san diego, run ethnic. Go to Old Town, eat at the "Old town mexican Cafe"
Bubba Clinton ate in that when he visited san diego.
Another San Diego entity is called Carne Asada Fries.
You can capture these in most taco shops within san diego. Its basically Fries, topped next to Beans, Carne Asada, Guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. Its a food found mainly surrounded by san diego. Just ask a local when you get here.

UPDATE:
Balboa park is great. I added two links.
One is a common calender of events for Balboa park, the other is a list of Free tuesdays. Every Tuesday several museums are uncap for free. Depending on which Tuesday you are there they will own different ones free.

I also read some other comments. Corvettes Diner is Unique to San Diego. Don't travel to a new city and acquire a Big Mac. Get the food hard to find else where on earth.
The last cooperation is to Kansas City Barbeque. This is where the tavern scenes be shot in the Movie "Top Gun"
Have fun.
the San Diego zoo is fun place to interact beside animals and children. umm some fun restaurants are fuudruckers, Islands.
The covertte diner is really fun for kids and adults. www.cohnrestaurants.com/cohn/cohnrestaur...
Toxic ro have it right.
Balboa Park can keep anyone entertain for weeks.
Its not only the most dazzling park I've ever been to its full up with every caring of museum, gardens, theaters, entertainment,
food, you name it.
There are a few places you could go to. Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, La Jolla, Horton Plaza, Gaslamp District, Coronado Island and Old Town are great places to look in.

My favorite Restaurant is the Fish Market. If you like fresh Fish and Seafood, you can't miss it. Expect roughly speaking 20 minutes waiting time, because it's a very frequent place.
Its probably too cold for you to go to the sand, but you can try it if you're really desperate. Go to La Jolla, its the most beautiful shore in San Diego within my opinion. ride your bike around Coronado, spend a hours of daylight in Balboa park (with the zoo and museums) and marine world of course. Don't without fault plan your week out either, at hand might be things that you want to do that you didn't even know existed until you got within so leave some space to move around!
