So you want to move to a city beside warm weather to rainfall just going on for everyday? I live near Seattle and I used to live within Ca., it rains and rain and rains and rain and sometimes never stops! It even rained contained by the summer! God! It gets ripened a depressing. See if you can move to San Diego. I loved it there and it's exquisite but a lot of traffic and inhabitants. Cost a little more but no worse than Seattle.
It's warmer within southwest Florida.
Merry Christmas..
I really approaching Craigslist and Yahoo groups. You can find so much there. I'm guessing you know you can find job, rentals, forums, and everything on both sites, right?
Our craigslist is Seattle.Craigslist.org
The previous posting with adjectives the recommended sites is good, too. City Search and "googling" are great ways to find out more roughly a place you want to go to.
If you would to some extent live south of Seattle, I know several real estate agents and mortgage brokers I could set you up next to.

Eww please don't point this poor woman towards Florida. I moved from there five years ago and won't even move about back to stop by!
What sort of info are you looking for? For jobs you can look at the Seattle Times http://www.seattletimes.com, http://www.monster.com or http://www.hotjobs.com For apartments http://rent.com is intensely helpful - I used that one to find my first place here. Let us know what focused things you want to find out about and we can hand over you a better response.
There's several really good books out something like relocating to Seattle. This is the one I bought - http://www.amazon.com/Relocating-Seattle... is really great. Gives profiles for the different neighbourhoods of Seattle and surrounding cities, links to area-related sites, addresses to bank, etc. Here's another one - http://www.amazon.com/Newcomers-Handbook...
Good luck and come on out! It's wonderful here! :)

I am from Seattle area and might can relief with any question or advise you may want.
Not sure why you hate Houston, but Seattle is newly horrid! I moved here from Dallas and yikes. It rains for days on closing, summer, winter, no matter. Very on the odd occasion is there a daylight with no precipitation. The people tend to be cold and standoffish, not friendly similar to in TX. Do yourself a favor and DON'T create the mistake I did. Stay in TX!
