Where to see jet fly over close at ohare?
My kid is interested in planes. Where is a worthy place near ohare to keep under surveillance the big jets fly actual close?
Answers:
The airport
Drive west on Irving Park Rd past Manheim Rd. Pull your motor off to the side of the road onto the shoulder and you'll catch a really nice view of them landing/taking past its sell-by date.
If you are uncomfortable human being along the road, you can pull into the post department at O'Hare. It's the next table lamp after Manheim Rd.
I JUST ASKED THE SAME QUESTION. I HAVE NOT GOT A REPLY YET , BUT I HAVE TWIN 10 MONTH OLDS AND THEY ARE GETTING INTO WATCHING THEM TOO.
I LIVE ON THE NORTHSIDE AND WE WENT TO A PARK IN DES PLAINES YESTERDAY , YOU CAN SEE THEM KINDA GOOD THERE BUT I STILL WOULD LIKE TO GET CLOSER.
I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT THE PARK WAS CALLED , IT STARTS WITH AN "A" AND IT'S BY TOUGHY AND MANHEIM. ALSO THERE IS A TARGET AND STUFF ON THAT CORNER. ANOTHER GOOD IDEA IS TO GO TO THE "COLD STONE" ICE CREAM JOINT IN THAT STRIP MALL , YOU CAN GET ICE CREAM AND WATCH THE PLANES THERE TOO , THEY ARE REAL CLOSE THERE, WE DID THAT YESTERDAY, THE SEEMED LIKE THEY HD FUN.
You want to see them close up, you can come to my backyard. Plane fly directly over my house surrounded by Elmhurst. There is actually a really nice park only off of York Road and Grand Avenue call Conrad Fischer Park. There are swings and slides for the kids, as well as picnic benches here, planes fly over all daylight long, and real close too.
Beaware, if you do park on Irving you wont get to enunciate there long as you will be considered a TAS threat. Depending on which approach the wind is blowing you can park surrounded by one of the factory lots on York rd they fly directly over on landing and take rotten.
W Irving Park Blvd, along the south shutting down of the airport.
Probably can get a flawless view from the OHare Oasis on I294 on the south (east?) bound side, or if they are landing from the north, conceivably you can park in the parking lot at Allstate Arena, they fly RIGHT over that lot, but I don't know if in that is access to that lot if nothing is going on at the arena.
