I am going to drive up I-5 from L.A. to Oregon. I enjoy never be on the I-5 or driven a long distance. I?
would appreciate any feedback about traffic, best time, best light of day of week to go to enjoy the smoothest, easiest drive. Are there any areas of mountain ranges to drive through or anything else? How long should it lug to get from L.A. to the Oregon border?

You're going to step right over Mt. Ashland. It's pretty steep, better make sure you enjoy studded tires and or chains. I have the funniest story for you: My husband and I be traveling from Modesto to Oregon quite a few years ago. When we get over the border in Ashland it be late at hours of darkness. We stopped at a gas station and were discussion and this guy came to the windowpane and just looked at us. I whispered to my husband "There's this weirdo looking at us, what do you imagine he wants"? Hubby rolls down the window and asks contained by a loud and threatening voice "Can I help you"? The weirdo asks pay for "What can I do for you"? This conversation goes on for rather a while. Turns out we were total idiots, he be the gas attendant and it is illegal for customers to pump their own gas within Oregon. He seen our license plates be from California and I know he said to himself that we were total morons. Don't net this mistake on your trip, you can not pump your own gas anywhere in the state of Oregon.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A RELIABLE CAR!
thats all
own a safe trip!
I use to live in attendance & had line in L.A. so I hold driven it offten. I would take the 5 to 299 west specifically at Redding. To the 101 up the coast. It is sooooo AWSOME!! Breath taking!
Once you get over the Grapevine and out of LA it will be smooth sailing. Maybe 15 plus hours.
Be prepared for any weather, especially fog. There have be a couple of cool car wrecks on that street lately because of the fog.
