Brooklyn or Harlem?
I plan on moving to NYC in June and I HOPE to money around 1000/month (I already have a roommate) I'm finding that most apartments are in the region of the same price contained by both Brooklyn and Harlem, 2 bedroom about 2000. What are your opinion? Which is a better place to live? p.s. I reallllly love Manhattan. But I want some real New Yorkers proposal.

I would influence Prospect Heights, but then I live close at hand there, so I'm a bit biased.

Manhattan is busy and a pain surrounded by the ***.
It depends where contained by Brooklyn you are looking, there are some really callous neighborhoods and some really nice ones. Harlem has more direct subway access to Manhattan, Brooklyn is portion of Long Island... depends on what you're looking for really.
Harlem doesn't have a great reputation, but I'm not that decipherable with it's neighborhood breakdown as I am beside BRooklyn. Also, Brooklyn is a whole borough, and Harlem is a moment ago a part of one borough, so it's unyielding to compare them.
I live in Queens myself, grew up on LI and I prefer Brooklyn to adjectives the other boroughs in the city.
I would choose Prospect Heights previously Harlem.
definitely brooklyn...the trains run into manhattan so that shouldnt be a problem
From Prospect Heights you have great subway access to Manhattan -- it's convenient if you are working surrounded by Midtown or Downtown (not so much uptown).
Many apartments that are listed as "Prospect Heights" are really surrounded by the less-gentrified neighborhood of Crown Heights, so look out, but there are some lovely, relatively large apartments over within.
In you situation I would pick PH. but then I prefer to dangle out in Brooklyn over Manhattan on weekends, because I can't stand crowds and pretentious ethnic group. If you truly love Manhattan, living there make sense!
