Good Museums In NYC?
I'm heading to NYC soon and would like to receive some feedback on some good museums to call on while I'm there! I've already see the Met, Museum of Natural History, Merchant's House, Madame Tussaud's, Ripley's Odditorium...would like to know of more profound museums, off the overpowered path. Thanks!

My absolute favorite museum is The Museum of the City of New York. It's located at 1220 Fifth Avenue at 103rd St. surrounded by Manhattans Museum Mile. You'll love it if you have an interest within our City and it's history.
Two other museums that I always relish are the New York City Police Museum and the New York City Fire Museum. The Police Museum is at 100 Old Slip, between Water St and South St. This is in Lower Manhattan. It's individual blocks away from South Street Seaport which you may want to visit as very well. The Fire Museum is at 278 Spring St in Soho. You may want to spend the afternoon within that neighborhood after your visit shopping or have lunch.
If you are not a minor, and if there are no minors contained by your party you may consider visit The Museum of Sex. This relatively new museum is becoming reasonably popular. It's at 233 Fifth Ave in the Flatiron District.
A short step from the Sex Museum is the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace, which is a National Historic Site. It's a recreation of the house the Teddy grew up surrounded by. Roosevelt is very closely connected with the history of our City, and I notably recommend visiting this site. It's located at 28 e. 20th St, between Park Ave So. and Broadway.

The Cloisters (owned and run by the Metropolitan Museum, but wayyyyy up in Fort Tryon Park on the northern tip of Manhattan.)

The Transit Museum (tiny and not contained by a touristy area, but elegant!)
New York Historical Society
The Museum of Modern Art (not obscure at adjectives, but great!)
Museum of Broadcasting
The Morgan Library (don't be fooled by it's name.)

The Conference House--located within the Tottenville neighborhood, it was the site of the lone peace conference held during the Revolution, between Lord Howe versus John Adams and Ben Franklin.
The Dyckman House (Broadway near 204 St)--British Army HQ during the Revolution
The Cloisters-most delicate spot in NYC, Sundays within summertime have concerts at hand also.
Walt Whitman Houise in the Bronx.

Museum of Broadcasting (has tapes of adjectives sorts of old shows)

If you're interested surrounded by American Indian, go to Native American Museum and other free.
If you're interested in aged trains, go to New York City Transit Museum.
If you be in motion during Bus Feast, admission to New York City Transit Museum is free.
