Helicopter tour is worth every dollar. Drive to Hana, leave coup¨¦ at Hana Airport, then helicopter posterior to Kahului Airport & pick up another rental car or capture a limo back to your hotel or out to Mama's Fish House (Critically acclaimed fish entrees) for dinner. Sunset helicopter display 10,000 ft. above Haleakala is awesome (lots of waterfalls).

Go shopping/Dining in Old Lahaina Town & Kaanapali Whalers Village.
You should also check out the I'ao Needle. The vision is spectacular. If you're into sushi, I recommend Sansei located in Kihei. Half price sushi after 10pm on Thurs, Fri, and Sat, I believe. I also recommend the Maui Revealed book.
Aloha!
You've hit the main attractions. A lot to cram into 4 days...
For whale watching I would unquestionably recommend the Pacific Whale Foundation for your tour; this will be a research boat and these people love the whales and can answer lots of question. In conjunction with the whale watching tour I'd recommend a trip to the Maui Ocean Center (in Lahaina)
In a rental sports car DO NOT attempt to drive around the west Maui mountains. Some rental companies don't want you taking the vehicle around Hana way any - at least not adjectives the way around - check your contract.
I outstandingly recommend you purchase the book Maui Revealed by Andrew Doughty and Harriett Friedman and peruse it thoroughly BEFORE coming, will give you adjectives sorts of ideas roughly where to stay, munch through, what to see and do. Look on Half.com or Amazon.com!
Avoid the tour hawkers you see in booths along the street...
Bring a Costco card if you are a contributor, it will be the best/cheapest place to buy gas and groceries.
All beaches are public so don't surface you MUST stay in a resort, jump to VRBO and rent a condo unless you've already made plans otherwise.
Snorkel Bob's is a great place to rent snorkel gear and you can return it via a drop box at any of their many locations, on any island.
Do attend a luau - the total best on any of the islands (IMO - I live on Hawaii island but in-laws live on Maui) is the Old Lahaina luau.
I'd recommend the bike ride down from Haleakala but I think they discontinued that only just.
Next time come see us on the Big Island. We have 13 out of the 15 climate zone on earth, (everything from snow to desert) largest privately-owned cattle fruit farm in the WORLD (Parker) and a LIVE volcano.
