Birthday trip to Balboa Island?
I'm taking my girlfriend to Balboa Island to celebrate her 19th birthday, but I hold no clue what to do or where i should dance on the island. I heard I have to take a transfer to get onto the island, but would it be easier to park my saloon then bear the ferry or should I give somebody a lift my car along? Plus, where on earth would I go to bring onto the ferry? Thanks!

You can take the carry or just drive across the bridge. From Newport Beach, Just follow Jamboree south. Just after PCH, it change to Marine Ave, crosses over Newport Bay, and on to Balboa Island.
Taking the ferry is a bit trickier. You can nick the 55 freeway all the channel until it ends at Newport Blvd. Take Newport all the method past PCH, where on earth it turns into Balboa Blvd and turns east. At this point, you are on the Balboa Peninsula. Continue for a couple miles, and look for Palm St. Turn left on Palm, and you will run right into the ship.
There are plenty of shops and restaurants on Balboa Island along Marine Ave that you can just explore together. Also, on the Balboa Pier (on the Balboa Peninsula), at hand is a Ruby's restaurant, a 50's-style diner with VERY mouth-watering burgers and shakes.

No requirement to take the carry, there is a bridge that take you over from Marine Ave on the north end.
There is not a undamaged lot to do on Balboa Island. Best bet is to go to the shore, walk through the shops, help yourself to in the sunset, and own a nice dinner.
The Island is a correct place to eat and wander - that's about it, as most of it is residential. For consumption - at the 'jamboree' end, at hand are a number of upright, medium priced restaurants on Marine... after you get through, you can pretty much stroll around as much of the island as you have legs for. At almost the other close is the ferry - it holds three cars, or you can move about on foot. On the other side (the Peninsula) are more restaurants (every piece from dive to 5Star), bars beside live music and the beach!
Depending on how much money you hold to spend, you could put together a nice inexpensive fun day adjectives the way to a fancy expensive evening. Some suggestions:
1. Rent a Duffy and travel AROUND the island. You can bring your own champagne/wine and munchies - can be very fun or outstandingly romantic. There are even several restaurants where you can dock the Duffy for dinner (on Lido).
2. There's a gondola - you can bear her out for a very romantic gondola ride - leaves from Newport Harbor
3. If she's an outdoors girl - rent bikes and ride around the island - you can run the bikes on the ferry, ride across to the Peninsula and after ride up and down the boardwalk.
4. Or splurge on a first class 5 star dinner at 21 Oceanfront.
The island is connected to newport beach (the city) by passageway of a bridge. To get nearby, come down PCH (driving toward San Diego) and make a right on Jamboree - newly go down the hummock and over the bridge.
The island is also connected to the balboa peninsula by way of the transfer. The ferry runs from the diagonal different side of the island (South Bayfront at Agate) over to the Peninsula, landing at Palm. From the Peninsula side, just lift Balboa Blvd until you see the signs that say 'ferry'.
