Georgia or DC?
Hello...I am a single mother of 4 and i would like to know which place would be better? I enjoy a job submission in Athens and Augusta, GA at 29,000 to 33, 000 twelve-monthly and in DC at 40,000 - 45,000 once a year. I am currently in SC jobless so since I departed the military. I would like to move somewhere that my money will walk far and is safe. Thanks within advance for the advice/suggestions.

Based on the cost of living, 29k surrounded by Augusta will go MUCH further than 45k contained by DC. The cost of living calculator says that you'd hold to make nearly 48k surrounded by DC to match even 29k surrounded by Augusta. The biggest difference is that housing is very expensive, and especially if you enjoy 4 children. It would be a struggle to afford even a 3 bedroom apartment in a sheltered part of DC on that sort of take-home pay.
It can be done, but not easily beside a family that ample, and not if you have anything surrounded by the way of debt.
However, preserve in mind the difference within opportunity for advancement and such at each commission. It might be worth living very frugally contained by DC for a year or to to make more money within the long run. Just be aware that the cost of living will be shockingly high for you.
EDIT:
Hey Galen, you might want to check out the voting pattern of Austin. You just pointed out your own bigotry.
Forget DC for locked. I have never lived surrounded by an area next to so much low life trash. In the parking lot where on earth I work, we had a murder, 2 robberies, 2 break-ins and a vehicle stolen in 6 months (that I know of). This is within a business park!
A good rule of thumb. If it is a hard to digest democrat area, crime (and poverty) is highly developed. It seems within the last Presidential see, DC voted 90% democrat!!
Don't forget your kids will be going to school here.
$40k is a fiesta wage here, depending on where you work and live. You can live outside of DC and commute. I don't know how far the money will move about in Athens or Augusta, I know Austin, TX is a well-mannered town and has employment opportunities. Wages would run further there. Look at rents within the areas you want to go. When I moved here, a rent be about $1200 while within Austin was $750. Two weeks settle up take home pay cheque should cover your rent. That can give you some guidance.
Thanks for your service, Good luck and email be if you involve more info.
