Who else finds it anoying?
I live in WASHINGTON STATE, who else lives here and finds it soo annoying when the communication or other people influence washington-but really they are referring to washington D.C.
i just find it soo irritating when they call upon D.C. washington..its like hello near is a WHOLE OTHER STATE called WASHINGTON!
ahhh why cant they speak D.C. and realize that their is another state called washington!
i hatred when people mix the two up!

I don't tend to little things like that obtain me too bent out of shape. Neither should you. Thought it did bother me a bit when I moved here from Florida and have four companies give me quotes for shipping my sports car - three of them gave me quotes to DC even though I provided a full address and fastener!
I DO get annoyed though, when ancestors can't spell simple words like "annoying" ;) And as a Canadian I find it REALLY annoying when on the word they say things approaching "Vancouver, Canada" and completely ignore the province. You don't hear them wise saying Boston, USA, do you?
I take your point though I can't enunciate I'm passionate more or less it. Quite frankly I live in Philly and when I hear "Washington" I do deliberate of DC first. Sorry. :(
I totally agree with you Im from CA and it pisses me bad when they ignore the state and Talk something like DC as Washington

There is merely one Washington State. Washington D.C. refers to the District of Columbia, which is not a state at all. Perhaps a geography lesson is contained by order.

If people live on the East Coast, I can have a handle on if they refer to Washington D.C. as Washington. It's just close to when people refer to Northern Virginia as NoVA despite NOVA self the name of a community college. Not me... There is the State of Washington, not Washington State unless there is a university by that pet name. And the is Washington, District of Columbia --- it is not a state. I think you stipulation to find better things to do, like study geography and English.
