Moving to Austin from NYC. Is at hand any nouns to live approaching the Village? Luv walking to coffee shops, etc.?
Im 29 and not looking for 6th street or college kids, but i really want to be able to hoof it to cool places. I love Northwest Austin, but havent been within for years, what is the best area? Is in that anywhere like the West Village or LES surrounded by NYC?
Answers:
yeah..south congress...kinda expensive surrounded by austin dollars...but coming from NYC it will probably seem similar to a steal to you. Travis Heights is a nice neighborhood
South Congress or, ugh, as they telephone it now SoCo.
Still plenty of quirk, funky neighborhoods, "free spirits" and great food. As they voice 78704 is not an area code, its a opening of life.
Look into Hyde Park - north of UT campus. There are some good coffee shops to stride too, and tons of bus routes in the neighborhood. Depending on your budget, nearby are some good apartment places on SoCo. And as for nightlife - stay contained by the warehouse district. Its great and totally caters to us in our behind 20s and 30s - the younger folks are usually on 6th street, but the older crowds are have a good time on 4th!
