Should the MTA put Ads on the MetroCard to help combat fare increases?
I for one conjecture its a good theory especially if they have expensive info for visitors.

MTA already did that a number of years ago, but if they be to do it again, i don't know how much they would get that would formulate much difference to their bottom line.
i've save almost every MetroCard i've ever used, and, off the top of my principal, i can think of an public notice for Altoids that had appeared for a while...
Hey, if the MTA have ads on the platforms, the buses, the trains and on the entrances into the subway, later why not put it on the MetroCard. This, in turn, will thwart operating cost and combat fare increases. As matter of reality, they should also put it in the tunnels, approaching they do on the PATH Trains.
Didn't they have ad at one time? I thought they did. Beats me why they stopped it.
But I am completely FOR ads.if it can balance future fare increase costs. Heck, they should stir as far as fully covering buses with ad as well.
I agree, it's specifically a great idea. Unfortunately, it will of late be more money for the MTA to "lose". Until the MTA is either fully private or fully a governmental entity subject to full disclosure not much will adjustment. "Authorities" were created to be capable of operate in a similar capillary as private organizations next to the ability to float debt short public debate or approval. Until the "Authority" status is removed from the MTA, it will continue to be an monetary question blemish.
As a collector of MetroCards, I can verify that the MTA did once put ads on the wager on, dating back to when the cards where on earth blue and not yellow.
As of past due though, it seems most MetroCards fact safety messages on the put a bet on.

Its a good hypothesis, but most likely won't hold any real impact on the companies who are exposure as most new yorkers including myself only just whip their card out at the turnstile and consequently stash it away. Very rarely do you see someone examining their card for a time of time.
Advertising would also be a way to fix up the stations using private funds. Now im not clich¨¦ let a company buy the station per right to be heard, however give them complete prefrence on adjectives ad space including installing modern space.
what i never understood is why near are many stations that be built with plenty of want ad space and they now similar to vacant and painted over. advisable space just not mortal used!
