Im from Chicago too! Lol but the nicest places ive seen around here if you are wanting something resembling the suburbs is Clermont or Mount Dora or Ocoee. Altamonte Springs is nice too. They all surround Orlando but they arent within the main string of things. Good luck next to your move. .. the food isnt that great down here! haha chicago's is so much better.
Any place on the north side up I-4 out towards Seminole county is good. Altomonte Springs, St. Marys, Sanford adjectives growing nice neighborhoods. It all depends on if you are working downtown or close to Disney. Any good actual estate agent will tell you equal, the nicer the area the more $$ you are going to spend.
