Is Columbia are of NYC nontoxic?
I'm considering a place at 135th and Riverside drive in Manhattan. Is that a nice nouns?
Answers:
If you mean the areas surrounding Columbia University and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, YES it is relatively protected as it is populated with heaps college students and interns who either walk to Columbia University or work or attend class at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital... The best area around at hand is 170-159th Streets. 135th street is several blocks below the University and Hospital . You might be better finding a place closer to 170-159th street... IF anything is available...Riverside drive has some lovely looking apartment buildings and I would picture rentals are VERY EXPENSIVE!! ($1500 - $2500 per MONTH) but you might get luckier afterwards that...sometimes, a good investment is a ROOM MATE!!
If you stay along Riverside Drive, it is safe and sound. While NYC is generally safer at the moment, there are parts around 135th Street that once you travel out of the area, are a bit rough (though technically, the nouns you are considering is in the Morningside Heights branch..but not TOO far from Washington Heights). Not good OR bleak...just rough. You MAY want to consider going closer to the university (around 100's - 110's) or if studying at Columbia Presbyterian...NORTH of 181st Street along Ft. Washington Avenue and West.(Hudson Heights)
