Hi,

It is a bit far but in NYC in attendance is so much to see while you are walking you really would not notice the stride. Though I admit I would step from the Empire State building to Ground Zero since there is more down hummock. Walk up Broadway it will take you thru Wall street, govt buildings, chinatown.

In the summer I hike from 110 street down to 14th street .

Believe me there will be stores, caf¨¦ all along the path but if you don't stop it should be less than 2 hours. And I waddle slow.
This is impossible to answer short knowing you and your pace.
On a semi-regular reason I walk from a point 2 blocks from Ground Zero to Madison Square Garden, near a stop for a slice of pizza in the Village. It take between an hour and 1:20... depending on traffic lights, which shoes I'm wearing, and whether there's a line at the pizzeria. That is at a brisk walking tread with no windowshopping. In your situation, it would engender sense to budget more like 2:30-3 hours.
It's not a short walk, but if it's a nice time why not.

Time wise it may whip 1 hour or even 2 or more if you decide to to stop and guzzle (Chinatown/Little Italy or shop in Soho or stop at Washington Square, Union Square, Madison Square Parks etc.).

By the approach one of the best hamburgers in NYC is served outdoors contained by Madison Square Park (at B'way and 23rd St - Flat Iron District)

If you use B'way, (one block east of the WTC) all the agency, you will walk through;

Financial District to Canal St

At Canal St - Chinatown and Little Italy areas (a couple of Blocks east)

Crossing Canal St on B'way is Soho Area

Continue North on B'way at Houston St - cross into East Village

Continuing down B'way - go beyond Washington Square Park - approaching Union Square area

After Union Square (cut through the park) you are approaching the Flat Iron nouns.

Continuing through the east 20's to the 30' you will be in Midtown South

The Empire State Building is on 5th ave (go one block east on 32St)

But that's silly - you WILL stop. You'll pass so copious interesting places on your way, that's why you are taking a way of walking like that, isn't it?

It's a long, long way of walking - that's the truth. How long it takes depends on you, how nippy you walk, how much you see that interests you, if you stop to guzzle or just catch a cup of coffee, etc. etc.

I love long walks resembling this one. I used to walk from Carnegie Hall to 8th Street surrounded by the Village (about 60 blocks) regularly when I was within college.

And a few years ago, on my birthday, I decided to whip a really long walk from Battery Park, up through Battery Park City, across town within Soho along Spring Street, and then up Lafayette Street, across Union Square, and up Park Avenue South. It took a few hours (I'm not sure how copious blocks that is, since it wasn't that direct, but it be a long, long way!) I have a great time, I remember that walk so fondly!

I influence go for it, but area monopoly more time than you think you'll stipulation so you can really enjoy it! And DO stop along the instrument. The goal isn't lately to get in attendance, you could do that by subway. The goal is to see NYC.

And you picked the remarkably best way to see NYC!
Ground Zero to the Empire State Building is more or less 2.5 - 3 miles (4 to 5 km) and depending on your walking speed, it will take going on for an hour or more.

If you walk up Broadway from Fulton Street to 23rd Street, you'll pass by City Hall, Chinatown, SoHo, the Villiage, Union Square and the Flation District. At 23rd Street, where Broadway and 5th Avenue cross respectively other, walk up Fifth Avenue from 23rd to 34th Street. You'll Madison Square Park and Midtown South.

I hope this information be very conscientious. I need any travel direction while contained by town just drop me a stripe at native.newyorker(a)hotmail.com.

Good luck and soak up
About 2.5 miles, 50 blocks and 1 .5 hour walk along Broadway.
