$2500 a month faithful for East Village?
I looked on Craigslist and they have apartments down in the $2500 gamut for East Village. I'm looking to move to NYC in a year or so and I be wondering if these listings were legit. I'm looking for a 2 bedroom contained by East Village. Yes, I'll be moving with a roommate and will be securing a post before I move. I'm an Economics trunk and if anyone has any tips as to where on earth I should start applying for entry level job or internships let me know!

Yeah, it looks realistic.
They said it's a walk-up, but didn't voice which floor - it's suspicious - could be 4th floor or even 6th floor walkup, which sucks.
Also, you most likely will own to pay broker's duty for this, which is 12-15% of yearly rent ($4500 within this case). They don't say that explicitly, but several Craigslist ads approaching this are brokers in disguise, although that applies more to 1BRs and studios.

There is no such article as "No fee" in New York, at tiniest when it comes to 1BRs and studios. Demand exceeds offer here and most "no-fee" listings are any brokers or total crap.
You will have better luck near avoiding fee on 2BR though - it is possible.

Keep surrounded by mind, just because it say "brand new apartment" doesn't miserable it's in a brand modern building. More than likely a remodeled apartment. Looks close to they did it right though.
If you keep looking around, within that neighborhood you might be able to do better than that price. That proprietor feels fit charging that amount because of the renovations he's done, but you could probably find other two bedrooms there for slightly smaller number.
And usually there is a allowance involved when renting an apartment in New York. Unless it's an unfair sublet, or a landlord that's handling everything himself, there's usually a broker near who's ready to collect his levy.

I think it seem legit, but the landlord have marked it up a bit (not much) because it's a recently renovated apartment.
If I were you I would hold on to looking, you can find something a little cheaper contained by that neighborhood (probably about $1900 for a 2 bedroom if you look frozen enough). In this situation you're definitely paying more because it's a remodeled apartment--most places contained by the east village don't look that nice.
