How will my slight southern diction be perceived surrounded by Seattle?
I'm not the redneck type of southerner keep contained by mind.
I just want things to dance smooth and enjoy what Seattle and Washington State enjoy to offer.

I have a distinctive Midwestern Accent and I enjoy had no TRUE issuse. I do get an occasional trick from people but deeply light hearted. There are population from all over out here, I in actual fact know more poeple from other states than I know Native Washingtonites.
People will love it. They will ask you were you are from, and stuff approaching that. But remember not everything is coke up here, we call it pop or soda, so if you utter coke, you'll get coke a cola.
The one and only way they will consider you are a redneck is if you say that you are form eastern washington or idaho... I've made that mistake.
We love the south and adopt all kind of folk. enjoy the not humide climate and don't seize too addicted to Starbucks!
It's not a problem. I live just outside Seattle, but I'm originally from Texas, and enjoy a FAINT southern accent; those here don't even seem to interest it :-)
On the West Coast there are culture from everywhere. Most people living contained by a city like Seattle weren't born within, they are from somewhere else. You will hear a lot of accent.
People generally -like- Southern accent. I know I do (I'm from the San Francisco area, which is extraordinarily similar). So long as you don't act approaching a redneck, people won't enjoy a problem with your elocution.
BTW it's a beautiful city, you'll love it! It does rainfall an awful lot, though.
Seattle is really liberal and friendly...if anything, you'll just hold people asking where on earth you're from (in a friendly way). I wouldn't worry around it. Be yourself!

i live in seattle and although your articulation wont have any affect on how population treat you, dont expect to be treated warmly. ancestors in seattle approaching to keep to themselves, they feat like you are trying to kidnapp them if you only just speak to them, my boyfriend is from louisiana and that was one of the first things he said he notice when he got here. it truly is a gorgeous city though, the whole state is striking!
Seattle is within general an widen minded, accepting place. More liberal than most other places. People from many different countries and cultures live in that, so don't worry roughly it. You see all kind of people and hear adjectives kinds of language.
It's no biggy-Seattle is a very diverse and cosmopolitan city these days. It's still got some lumber town roots, but remember it's get Boeing and Microsoft as well.
In most cases it won't be notice, ro cared around. In a majority of the other cases you'll encounter curiosity and/or awe, but there are a few society who are immature and dislike general public with southern accent.
But, like I voice, the people who will kindness you will outweight those who will be mean or cruel.
In the state of Washington is the military base Fort Lewis. The military invites adjectives types of cultures and accents. You wouldn't be alone, you'd be fine.

i am from Tennessee and people didn't really seem to be to notice my diction they could tell that i wasn't local, but not a soul paid any attention to it
