Thats a well-mannered question, honestly I don't mull over you can shelter your kids that much no matter where on earth you are in GA. Well unless your within the country. But the city life is everywhere - even surrounded by the suburbs. It just depends what your looking for. If its obedient schools you want than do the research and move closer to a dutiful school. But even the 'good schools' in this day and age have issues. Its adjectives up to how your raise your kids. People commonly think that if they move away from "crime" or "discouraging influences" that it wont find them. You can go to a not so great arts school and be ok. But I mean I know what your saying too. Good luck!
Alpharetta is a great place. I grew up there. Shopping, deeds, etc. great schools. Also, check out Cumming within Forsyth County, just north of Alpharetta. It is right on Lake Lanier. Forsyth county have some of the best schools around.

Well, I ponder that you are better off any in the middle of GA, or contained by the ATL. Because, down by Savannah and Columbus, it is very rural. I don't feel that you would prefer very much to bump up your children down there. There are tons diseases around farms, and I only just think that over adjectives, your children may me better off for a while more north. North of the ATL is good too.

The Alpharetta-Gwinnett-Fulton county area is great. Fulton have some of the best schools contained by the state, and Atlanta is only just about a 30 minute drive if that.

If you and your family are looking for upscale well-to-do communities next to good school etc, may I suggest where my oldest sister and her kith and kin live on the northside of ATLANTA in "SANDY SPRINGS, GEORGIA."
A few years ago it become a self-incorporated town and is proud to home to several FORTUNE 500 HQs in the form of UNITED PARCEL SERVICE, COX COMMUNICATIONS etc. They own plenty of shopping PERIMETER MALL as well as resembling 2 Metro MARTA Rail stops in enclosure 2 major hospitals. and churches as okay including the well particular pastor, Charles Stanley.

I would read out north of Atlanta - Cobb County, Marietta, Kennesaw, Cartersville & Canton - maybe look surrounded by Gwinnett County too.
