The bus is faster than the train, but the bus sucks.
I did the train (Sunset Limited) from San Antonio to here a couple of years ago and it be fine, but LONG. It also leaves at 5am and gets here at give or take a few midnight.
You can also see if you can get a ride from everywhere you are. Craig's List has a pretty live Rideshare board, but, of course, you're putting yourself at risk somewhat there, especially mortal female. But that would be the fastest instrument.
