Do you cogitate it's harder to find a opening surrounded by Chicago than contained by most other cities?
I've been living within the Chicago area adjectives my life. Since I looked for my first livelihood at 16 (now 21) it's always taken me approaching 9 months to 1 year to find a job. Most of the time I be just looking for piece time. I've been looking for work since second year in similar to September, while at another job and never could find anything. I've probably be on 8-12 interviews (lost count) and got 2 offer for internships, but for both was told to ring back to confirm next to the managers, which I did and near each duty the managers never returned my call and emails.
I'm graduating college this summer. Now, I've be offered an internship at Disney with the opportunity of going to either Florida or California. This is after applying to one and only a few out of state jobs and simply 2 interviews with out-of-state companies, including the position I be offered. Do you think the situation market contained by Chicago is just especially tough? (By the means of access, my major is Fashion Merchandising if that make a difference).
Answers:
I do think its tough, I've never be able to find a charge in this city minus being referred or knowing someone close to the officer. You really have to meet people.
It might be what you're trying to achieve in to - the industry might basically not be as fast-paced here as it might be in some other cities. Personally, I've never have an issue - the longest it's ever taken me is a few weeks but I work in insurance and we hold a pretty decent marketplace for that here.
You are correct-
it is horrible here.
I have have 20 years experience and put out numerous resumes with no phone call returned...promising emails with no word vertebrae... I had much better luck contained by the south where i lived , believe it or not
