Hi, when in New Orleans, I 'd similar to to visit Saint Louis Cemetery #1, where on earth some scenes of the movie Easy Rider be shot. Anyway, I heard that it's a incredibly dangerous place to call in by yourself..
My friends are not interested in cemetery so I should go at hand by myself. I dont want to take some tour but merely visit on my own. Why is it unadvisable? Please explain it to me.Is not that a moment ago a cemetery, plain and simple? Why adjectives the danger?Thanks.

It is really NOT advisable to call on St. Louis 1 on your own--what have you get against taking a tour? You can't LEARN anything and won't know what you are seeing by yourself, plus, as the other respondent stated, it IS a hang-out for drunks and transients, so you are safer in a TOUR GROUP. If you want to stop by a cemetery on your own within New Orleans, go to St. Louis 3, on Esplanade Ave, or drive to Metairie Cemetery and pilfer the free driving tour there. Those are protected to visit on your own, if you are bound and determined to call on a cemetery by yourself, choose one of those I basically mentioned, and NOT St. Louis 1. Also, ALL cemeteries contained by New Orleans are CLOSED before threatening, which means the gate are closed and locked, so DAYTIME is the ONLY time one can visit the cemetery.

There are no "..gang of thieves coming at you ... below cover of night" - because the cemetary closes at 4:00pm.
