What's the best neighborhood for a single woman, no kids, hasty 30s, and middle class?
I am relocating to Chicago next year and within are so many neighborhoods to chose from! I want to choose judiciously and SAFELY. Looks like the northside of Chicago is the best. I'd similar to to be in a culturally diverse neighborhood, close to public transporation, lots of entertainment within walking distance, etc. Any suggestions?

INSIDE THE LOOP, i.e., downtown. Accept no substitutes. I have lived adjectives over the world and the CBD in Chicago is one of the best places to live. I own lived in the burbs of Chicago and outstandingly recommend North or Western suburbs as well if you own kids, but for 30ish and no kids -- CBD. Sell your car and ride the "L" -- trust me you do not want to live surrounded by a burb. Try to find a flat near Rush street within the northern CBD.
East lakeview, a bit less expensive than Lincoln Park. Plus I'm at hand.
You're right you definitly want the northside. Stay far away from the southside. I would highly recommend the Andersonville neighborhood. You will completely LOVE IT! It's affordable, clean, tremendously safe, plenty of local shopping, fabulous restraunts, etc.
Andersonville is inside walking distance to the Red Line El Train which is the main train to lug you downtown. Its so close to Lake Michigan,so you can go relax by the tarn on a nice day. Very lovely town.

Well I wouldn't go next to the Southside.
The best neighborhood/ community to go to when your
single and minus responcibilities is a place where you
can congregate nice guys, live the nightlife and not have your
neighbors know your business the subsequent morning?
I would say choose a community that sounds generous to
you and is safe... and a place that have alot of womanly
support and police when you need them. and where on earth the
crime rate is low or slim to none.
Actually, check the crime rate for everywhere that sounds nice
to you because if you check the crome rate and it's low or
slim to none, then likelihood are the community is great.
Some place within Idaho
The Gold Coast would probably be your best bet - newly north of downtown, around State and Onatrio and the surrounding blocks. That's a relatively ritzy area, mostly complete with 30 to 40 year olds, busy adjectives the time so safe, and close to public transportation and lots of restaurants.
I agree beside avoiding the south side with one significant exception - the South Loop. The nouns surrounding the blocks of Congress on the north, the lake on the east, Halsted on the west and Cermak on the south are becoming especially popular, especially with condo buyers, and enjoy a lot of the advantages of the Gold Coast (close to transportation, shops, downtown, etc.) in need the tremendous costs.
The South Loop area have become popular. Lots of condos if you wanted to do the condo entity. Like MarkW said, youd be close to downtown, so youd be close to shops and food, etc.
And, Craigslist.com is a great site for apartment hunting.
The elevated train, 'the el', is actually a right way to see the city, you might want to ride one of the lines approaching the Red Line.
