Where can i military camp out on a coast?
my best freind is comming back down from oregon to pop in. we want to camp out on a seaside. but in a tent. where on earth is a good coast two 21 year olds can go thats not too far from la?
Answers:
They have them up and down the coast. Gaviota, Carpenteria, Dana Point, McGrath, Leo Carillo, etc.
From the north going south..Gaviota, Leo Carrillo, Dockweiler,Newport Dunes, Doheny, San Onofre.
How far is "too far"?
The problem is that beachfront property is so expensive surrounded by LA, there aren't any places to military camp anymore on the beach.
The two closest tent camp beaches are Leo Carillo State Park within Malibu (technically, not ON the beach, but across PCH from the beach), and Doheney State Beach within dana Point (where you can get a site right by the sand). You can reserve them online at www.reserveamerica.com
Dockweiler (County beach) and Sunset Beach hold RV camping, but that's solitary in self-contained RV's. No tent camp is allowed.
Newport Dunes in Newport Beach have tent sites, but for the $89, you might as well stay within a cheap hotel.
Further north, you have McGrath State Beach surrounded by Ventura, Carpinteria State Beach in Carpinteria (88 miles from LA), El Capitan and Refugio State Beach (110 miles from LA). Further south, you hold San Celemte State Beach (80 miles), San Onofre, South Carlsbad, and San Elijo.
Good luck
