Treasure Island, Florida this summer...any tips?
We are going to be staying at Treasure Island for a week this summer. We haven't ever been to that nouns of Fla. Any MUST-do activities or sights? Our 7 yr elderly son so looking for kid-friendly stuff also. Any ideas, tips or places to look in (or avoid) would be appreciated!

You'll probably end up doing John's Pass settlement which is just over the bridge within Madeira Beach. You're only in the region of 45 minutes from Busch Gardens in Tampa. There is a pirate cruise that leaves from Clearwater Beach.
There is a spruce bird sanctuary

South of you a little turn disappeared at the Don Ceasar (big pink) hotel and there is a toll bridge turn right toward Fort DeSoto - see the hulking Mortars that were placed at hand during the Spanish American War - rent bikes and bike the paths. Pay attention to where on earth there are no swimming signs the current is strong.
Lots of things to rent on the seaside to play with.
St. Johns pass by that someone alluded to is no longer the fun shopping area that it used to be they are making it yuppy condos.
If you step North to Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks - you can go out on an elderly orange boat and they will show you how they dive for sponges - lots of chessy sponge stuff but some nice greek import and linens.
There are a ton of things to do between Clearwater, Tampa and St Petersberg - have fun
